Thoughts about LDSC08 from the outside
I thought I’d take time out from the topic of the week to talk about something that’s happening in the Penn State Learning Design community. I’ll save my post about Intranet Analytics for tomorrow.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, the Penn State Learning Design Summer Camp was held at Paterno Library. Although I was planning on and was very excited about attending, mandatory meetings got in the way and I was unable to go. I was truly bummed.
I followed #LDSC08 on Twitter and read the notes on their wiki and blogs, following along as best I could. It sounds like it was a fantastic experience and there are already ideas for next year. Congratulations to everyone involved!
I have to say that the IT/Learning Design/etc. community here at Penn State is awesome. Encouraging participation, open discussion, and ideas. The best thing about it is that they encourage participation from everyone, not just IT and Learning Design. Everyone’s input is important.
At a large university, this is especially critical. More involvement and more feedback from different departments and units is a great thing and I appreciate the opportunity.
I can’t wait until camp next year. I plan on locking down those two days early. No double-booking. No way!
Thanks Shelby. I’ve enjoyed having you along at the BS Breakfasts. The Summer Camp had the same kind of feel, except with 100 people if you can imagine that. It’s pretty cool that a lot of people started talking about “next year” before the first one was over. I think we’ll aim for June or July, so those of us with “before students come back” deadlines have time to attend and then follow-through afterward.
